Kausani a Pradise on Earth

50 km north of Almora, nestling amongst thick, dense pine forests, Kausani is the place to head for a closer view of the grandeur of the Himalayan scenery. From here there are excellent 300 km wide views of the Nanda Devi group of Mountains, especially of sun rise. The view of the snow covered Trishul and Nanda Devi is so clear that one gets a feeling of the snow within touching distance. Eulogised by poets & philosophers, this scenic and beautiful spot (1890m) offers so much all year round-sightseeing, history, sport, pilgrimage & complete relaxation.

Mahatama Gandhi spent almost a fortnight here during which time he wrote his commentary on the Gita-Anashakti Yoga. The guesthouse where he stayed is now the Anashakti Ashram. Hindi poet laureate Sumitra Nandan Pant and the famous folk singer Gopidas belonged to this place.

The hill station is well connected by road to all nearby towns. Ranikhet (75km), Bageshwar (39km), Nainital (120 km ).
